City of Salmon Arm Grants-in-Aid
The City of Salmon Arm Grants-inAid Committee met recently and approved a grant in the amount of $1,800.00 to assist in covering utility costs for the Shuswap Association for Community Living. The Committee went on to write "Shuswap Association for Community Living provides a key support service through its numerous programs to promote engaged community living for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Association's contributions and those of its clients are valued and much appreciated
Grant Improves Access
Due to a generous grant of $3,000.00 from the Shuswap Community Foundation, Shuswap Association for Community Living was able to build a roof over the access ramp to one of our buildings and to repair the ramp itself, both of which were damaged last winter due to the heavy snowfall.
The building houses two programs – the Wood Shop which makes and sells various products such as park benches and survey stakes, and the Environmental Solutions Program which provides a recycling and confidential shredding service to local businesses and community members. These programs provide work for an average of 14 individuals per day who receive a share of the profit made.
